Tom Detty - Kitchen Designer and Sales Manager
Like every other young man in his twenties, Tom was looking for his niche in life....a career. When the founder of The Kitchen Place, Alec Osvath, required major heart surgery, Tom Detty stepped up to the plate to help out. That was over 25 years ago. Since then, Tom has been serving builders and homeowners with his kitchen expertise.

One time I blew up a jar of Cheez-Whiz in the microwave!
How I became affiliated with The Kitchen Place ...
I was friends with Karla and Kelly (Osvath) in high school and college. In 1986, their father, Alec (co-founder of The Kitchen Place) required a quadruple heart bypass. Their mom, Betty (the other co-founder), needed help in the showroom and warehouse, so they came to me asking for my help. So, I quit my two jobs...and the rest is history. Over time, I learned every aspect of the kitchen business, from field measuring, to layout, to installations. It has become a very nice career for me.
